Biography:

Hello - thanks for visiting our website! My name is Addison (AJ) Schmall and I am the owner of The Math Advantage, LLC. Here you will find my story, experiences, passions - and yes, one of them is mathematics.

These days I work my day job as an Assistant National Bank Examiner at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, an agency of the US Treasury.

My education has always been my top priority. I am a first-generation college student who graduated with Honors from Bradley University. There, I studied Finance and Mathematics. My three years at Bradley University consisted of many extracurriculars, including several leadership roles. It was my final year at Bradley where I was awarded the Outstanding Graduate in Finance Award as well as the Outstanding Student Organization Award for my performance as President of The Financial Management Association. During my time in college I was a Math Tutor as well as a Peer Mentor to younger students; it was these involvements that showed me my passion for teaching, helping others, and navigating troublesome situations.

In high school I was just as driven - being a three sport athlete and Varsity Team Captain, involved with Student Council, Scholastic Bowl, Math Team, and more! Staying motivated helped me finish near the top of my class, win the Math Team State Competition, and put me in the position to graduate college early.

Outside of work, I am a performing musician. I play guitar and sing in a few different local groups - my main band is called BAJA. Being relatively new to music has made it a challenge with a steep learning curve.

You may ask, “AJ, how have you overcome this?”

The Answer: I found the MATH in music!
